This is primarily a travel blog in which I write about traveling in our motorhome. Our travels have

Nacogdoches, TX, United States
I began this blog as a vehicle for reporting on a 47-day trip made by my wife and me in our motorhome down to the Yucatan Peninsula and back. I continued writing about our post-Yucatan travels and gradually began including non-travel related topics. I often rant about things that piss me off, such as gun violence, fracking, healthcare, education, and anything else that pushes my button. I have a photography gallery on my Smugmug site (http://rbmartiniv.smugmug.com).

The Perfect Storm?

Did you read the book or see the movie, The Perfect Storm?  It was the story of a fishing boat that was caught in a humongous storm and sank with no survivors.  Well, a group of us are going out on a boat this afternoon to learn a little about lobsters and do a little sightseeing in Frenchman Bay.

Now, I know it's not exactly the same thing.  But we will be in a fishing boat in big water (they say you can drown in a bathtub just as easily as the ocean).  We will be in Frenchman Bay on the lobster boat Lulu out of Bar Harbor, ME instead of out in the Atlantic Ocean on the swordfisher Andrea Gail out of Gloucester, MA, but other than that you might see some similarities.

I, however, refuse to wear one of those dumb-looking rain hats that are seen on all of the caricatures of New England fisherman.

(If I haven't posted anything about the excursion by 10PM tonight would someone please check with the Coast Guard?  Just to make sure.)
